A photographer I work with, Mike Schreiber and myself were thinking of ways to help with the hurricane effort as Mike once photographed kids in one of New Orleans' inner neighborhoods, a neighborhood that most likely does not exist anymore (see photo of kids below). Mike thought it might be a good idea to sell some of his photos of the kids online and donate that money to hurricane relief. I then thought it might be really cool to have other artists join in as well.
Here is my plan:
1.) artist should choose artwork/ photographic prints available to sell and email me jpegs of work. (72 dpi/ 500 pixels - longest dimension; max)
2.) artist must also email me a price and size of artwork (since I am doing many things at this point in addition to selling artwork it is hard for me to respond to a lot of communication in regards to what size and how many pieces etc. I would say for photographic prints: 11x14 and for amount of work 1-3 pieces.)
3.) potential buyer can then purchase art or photographs they choose by emailing Angela directly.
4.) buyers will be asked to donate directly to charity. At this point I will be suggesting these charities: Boys and Girls Clubs and Noah's Wish however any Katrina related charity of buyer's choice will be accepted.
I will also accept check or money order payable to the Red Cross. The buyer will then send Killer of Giants the check payable to charity and at that point I will email artist and let them know art has been paid for and is available to ship.
5.) to alleviate a lot of stress, back and forth communication and money exchange all artists will be responsible for paying for TRACKED shipment of artwork to buyer (UPS/ FED EX or otherwise), regardless of where artwork needs to be shipped. Please do not donate artwork if you are not able to ship it as it would look very, very bad to sell a piece and not ship it. We can not be responsible for un-shipped artwork but we can spread the word about dead beat shippers.
